[A note from Jannae: Dad has improved quite a bit in the past couple of days! He is more alert and is making jokes with those who have come to visit. He has been able to walk around the hospital floor multiple times, and he is slowly getting his appetite back. Taylor and I have made Dad a “chore chart” to encourage him to eat and exercise. If he accumulates enough stickers through the week, he can get a bag of Skinny Pop, his new favorite snack.]
It was kind of a rough night last night – I was going to the restroom or getting my vital signs taken every couple hours. The nurses disconnected my IV yesterday afternoon and took the IV needle out this afternoon! I’m still on blood thinner, and the nausea has been pretty good, thanks to the medication. I don’t want to go any deeper because of TMI.
Energy levels seem okay. I felt more energetic yesterday than I do today, but not by much. I took a three-hour nap this afternoon, which seemed to help. Visitors, though I love them to death, are sometimes tiring. I almost felt like faking falling asleep to get them to leave. [Jannae aside: we are looking at you, June 😛 ]
Fun fact: I haven’t taken a shower since EIGHT DAYS AGO! [Jannae aside: I was incredulous that this wasn’t considered TMI, but Dad said no, this is a FUN FACT.] But I have been getting these CHG baths, which are kind of like a shower that removes all the microbes on my skin that could possibly cause me to get ill; I get one every 24 hours.
Unfortunately, we are waiting for blood test results to come back for me to be discharged, so I have one more night, one more day, one day mooooooooore. [Jannae aside: Dad specifically said that this line is meant to be sung a la One Day More from Les Miserables.]

I remember popcorn being something I could eat during chemo as well. Yours is a much more intense chemo, but praying it does what is intended and kills the cancer cells. Our hearts go out to you and our prayers are with and for you.
Dear Art (and Pam and family),
Will be thinking and praying for you as I follow along this journey.
Love in Him,
Mark
