My original discharge date was Sunday, Jan. 26 but it got delayed because I was awaiting blood test results. We had our fingers crossed for a discharge the following day, yet the bloodwork indicated that I still had an infection and that I should stay at least one more day. The antibiotics were changed, and the new antibiotic seemed to push my numbers in the right direction. Even though these delays were a little setback, we wanted to make sure that I was in the right condition to be discharged.
Wednesday morning I had another blood test that confirmed the trend was going in the correct direction, so discharge orders were submitted. Commence a whirlwind activity on my behalf to be discharged. (I don’t know what the whirlwind of activity was though.) In this flurry of activity, I even had a special visitor – Beau! He is now my BFF (sorry Jun). I spent a few minutes petting him; all in all, a good experience. [Jannae aside: Beau even has a trading card! He was so soft and loved getting pets. Taylor says the pet therapy was mostly for us and not Dad.] Praise the Lord that discharge orders were placed – another answered prayer and another receipt of God’s goodness!
It feels great to be home, to be able to use my own bathroom, and have the ability to sleep uninterrupted. Even though I am still waking up frequently in the middle of the night, I am doing it by my own volition. Yesterday Jannae slept in the same room as me so at least someone in the room is getting good sleep. [Jannae aside: This is debatable. I stayed up late reading and then Dad kept snoring, keeping me awake. However, my sleep chart was at least better than Mom’s from the last time she stayed in the hospital with Dad.]
Another receipt of God’s goodness is that we were able to schedule a consultation with a highly recommended oncologist at City of Hope on Feb. 12 before he goes on vacation!

So glad to hear you were finally discharged. Nothing like some TLC in your own home. As for your continued treatment, the City of Hope (Duarte campus?) you’ll be in the best of hands. God is good!
