Continued Roadblocks

Pam Fong, February 13, 2025February 13, 2025

We were hoping Art would get his second round of chemo at the hospital today, but due to a UTI, it was postponed until tomorrow. Still, we rescheduled tomorrow’s consult at HOPE to the first available in March. However, in the evening, we received the news of another roadblock – the chemo treatment as an in-patient at the hospital was denied, as it is hospital policy to not provide chemo as an in-patient due to how expensive the treatment is. This was extremely frustrating to learn and left us feeling lost, especially since due to the late hour, we would have to wait until the morning to do anything. But, God makes the way, and we were able to get a hold of Dr. K, who said he would treat Art as an outpatient next week after discharge in his office. What a rollercoaster this has been.

Prayer requests:

  • Chemo order with Dr. K was submitted. May there be no issues in getting approved or with scheduling the appointment.
  • UTI would clear quickly.
  • Strength and increased appetite for Art, as he has been very tired lately and sleeping a lot.
  • Rest for us caregivers. This has been an emotionally and physically draining journey.
  • O2 and heart rate remain at good levels.
  • Trust that God is in control and that we put all our faith in Him. I have to admit, it was discouraging when we got the news. Art was even saying, “it’s not fair.”

It was shared in today’s message at church that setbacks will arise, but they can be a setup for something greater. The cross, the day Jesus died, looked like the ultimate setback. But it was the setup for the greatest comeback… Jesus conquered sin and rose from the dead. God…

Praying the Lord’s mercy on all of you. This morning as I was praying I had such a sense of how God has been walking this with you, even before you were aware, in ways both seen and unseen. He walks before and with and beside and behind you.
